AGARTALA: Two days after the gangrape of a college girl Agartala, two separate rape cases including a gang rape of two minor tribal girls were reported at Amarpur in Gomati district and Lalchara in Langtarai Valley of Tripura's Dhalai district.
Police arrested the prime accused of the Amarpur gang rape incident and launched a manhunt against nine other accused persons while the accused in the Lalchara incident has still been on the run.
However, two accused among four in connection with the gang rape of a college girl were arrested so far. Both the accused Goutam Sharma and Sudhir Chettri were sent to five days police remand.
Police arrested one Laxman Pal, the uncle of the accused Prasenjit Pal of the college student gang rape incident from MBB airport in the evening for abetting the accused to fly to Kolkata. "A separate investigation was launched to find out the source of such a huge amount of cash," police said, adding that the initial investigation revealed that Prasenjit was involved in IPL gambling and money laundering activities.
Police are interrogating the family members about the source of money and whereabouts of Prasenjit but no breakthrough yet.
According to police, two minors were gang-raped in a rubber estate by 10 members group on Wednesday night.
