AGARTALA: A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan of the 13th battalion posted in the BC Para camp at Damcherra in North Tripura tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.
The jawan (32), who hails from Madhya Pradesh, had travelled with Tripura's first Covid-19 patient, a woman, in the same coach of the Ananda Vihar Tripura Sundari Express on March 18. He had boarded the train from Meerut in UP.
A day after reaching Agartala, the jawan had cough and was suffering from fever. But he got cured a few days later joined duty.
After the first case was detected on April 6, the jawan's name came up during contact tracing and his swab sample was collected on Thursday. The report confirming that he is Covid-19 positive came on Friday evening. Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted, "One more #COVID19 positive case in Tripura has been confirmed, taking the total number to 02. The patient is 32 years old male from Madhya Pradesh and currently staying at Damcherra & has travelled along with the last COVID19 positive patient in train."
