Tripura's technical education body to become independent

AGARTALA: The directorate of technical education will no longer function under the higher education department, the Tripura government announced on Sunday.
"A separate technical education directorate will help us focus on and develop technical education opportunities in the state. Besides contributing to social and economic development of the state, it will lead to better management of human resources, enhance industrial productivity and improve the quality of life of the people," education minister Ratan Lal Nath said here.
Nath said the state can provide a platform for better education and training for skill development. "The country has a dearth of trained technical personnel, which we need to help address," he added.
