Tripura launches statewide exercise to collect student info from schools

Agartala: The education ministry’s ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative has prompted the Tripura govt to launch a statewide exercise to collect information about pupils from both govt and private schools with the consent of their guardians.
Director of secondary education, NC Sharma, said the initiative aims to create a centralised database of students, allowing digital access to their information. Parents have duly filled up and submitted data sheets to the schools, he added.
Under the New Education Policy 2020, an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) will be created for each student based on the information provided by their parents/ guardians.
“The ‘One Nation One Student ID’ is expected to streamline the management of and access to student information, making it easier for authorities to monitor and support students nationwide,” Sharma said, adding that a new student identity card will be issued with their consent.
The APAAR will serve as a unique identifier for students, enabling institutions to verify information instantly right from kindergarten through postgraduate levels. This will simplify the admission process, making it more efficient, faster and transparent. With all information available digitally, the burden and risk of maintaining paper records will be significantly reduced, Sharma said.
