Tripura to start procurement of paddy from June 15

Agartala: Tripura will start procurement of paddy directly from farmers from June 15.
Consumer affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said 16,000MT of paddy will be purchased at an MSP of Rs 21.83 per kg from June 15 and the process will continue till July 15. “Paddy will be procured from farmers in 31 blocks across six districts of West Tripura, Sepahijala, Khowai, Dhalai, South Tripura and Gomati. A total of Rs 35 crore will be spent on procurement which will be reimbursed by the Centre,” the minister said. tnn
