Tripura to set up two excellence centres for scientific cultivation
Agartala: Tripura govt has decided to establish two centres of excellence for the scientific cultivation of fruits, vegetables, and flowers and to provide high-quality planting material, CM Manik Saha said on Sunday. He also applauded PM Modi for the development of the farming community.
The centres will be set up at Lembucherra near Agartala and Birchandra Manu in South Tripura.
He said state govt has launched a unified farmers’ database to record related details, link land records and conduct real-time crop surveys.
The farmers of Tripura will receive around Rs 47.68cr in 18th instalments under PM-Kisan scheme. So far, around 2.59 lakh farmers have received a total of Rs 737.49 cr under the scheme in 17th instalments. The farmers have been getting Rs 6,000 annually as assistance to procure paddy, seeds, planting materials and to manage other support apparatus.
“Our country is largely agricultural, and if we fail to develop our farmers, the progress of the country will not be possible. Due to PM Modi’s leadership, the economic growth of our country has significantly increased since 2014. With just a push of a button, the money is directly transferred to everyone’s account through Direct Benefit Transfer,” he said.
He further highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, around 13.89 lakh farmers are covered in Tripura. Additionally, the state has launched the Mukhya Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, benefiting 3.81 lakh farmers, besides creating a unified farmers’ database with 3.3 lakh farmers already uploaded to the portal.
