Tripura signs MoU for ropeway construction

Agartala: Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has signed an MoU worth Rs 692 crore with National Highways Logistics Management Limited to construct ropeways.The ropeways will connect Udaipur Railway Station to Mata Tripureswari temple, Maharani to Chhabimura in Gomati district, Surmacherra in Dhalai and Jampui Hills of North Tripura. Chief minister Manik Saha, speaking at an event on World Tourism Day on Friday, said the state govt has undertaken a multi-pronged plan to develop the tourism and hospitality industry in Tripura.Saha highlighted that the tourism industry is one of the key sectors that drive economic growth in the country and states like Tripura. The natural environment of Tripura is one of the state's most important assets. Besides nature and a healthy environment, Tripura has several temples and mosques that support religious tourism.“Tripura Sundari Temple, Kasba Kalibari, 14 Goddess Temple, Mangalchandi temple in Amarpur and Mahamuni Pagoda in Sabroom attract tourists from across the globe. Efforts are also underway to beautify Matabari in Udaipur, Narkel Kunja and Dombur Lake to attract more visitors,” Saha said. Tourism is one of the largest sources of employment and plays a crucial role in economic prosperity and poverty alleviation across the world, Saha pointed out.
