Tripura minister invites investment in renewable energy

AGARTALA: Power minister Ratan Lal Nath sought investments in the renewable energy sector during the recently concluded 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet in Gujarat.

On Wednesday, the state unveiled its plan to generate 815MW of power from renewable sources by 2030, including 396MW from solar energy, 400MW through hydro pump storage, 15MW from hydro, and 2MW from bio-energy, with a total investment of Rs 13,000 crore.

Highlighting the state’s progress in solar energy generation, Nath stated, “Before 2018, a total of 2.5 MW of electricity was generated through solar energy. In the last six-and-a-half years, the BJP-led govt in Tripura has increased the generation by more than 20.5 MW.”

He emphasised that Tripura has been transitioning from conventional sources like gas and coal to renewable energy, in line with the global trend.

During the event, which was attended by PM Narendra Modi, Nath received an award for Tripura achieving the third position among the NE states in the promotion of non-conventional sources of energy. He emphasised on the state’s industry-friendly govt at the meet.

AP to generate 72.6 GW renewable energy by 2030

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu committed Andhra Pradesh to generating 72.60 GW of renewable energy by 2030, aligning with India's target of 500 GW. He announced plans for a global university focused on clean energy and circular economy, inviting global investors to benefit from the state's favorable policies and skilled workforce.

RE Invest 2024: ReNew to raise renewable energy capacity to 50GW by 2030 in Gujarat

ReNew plans to increase its renewable energy capacity to 50GW by 2030 and produce 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually, creating around 100,000 jobs. The company will also establish solar manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, which will support significant capacities for ingot/wafer production, solar cell production, and solar modules.

Renewable energy not optional, but a compulsion: Dhankar

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the critical need for renewable energy at the RE-Invest 2024 event, labeling climate change as an existential threat. He pointed to India's ancient texts for environmental wisdom and urged worldwide cooperation. Dhankhar also acknowledged India's advancements in green hydrogen and sustainable energy consumption.
