NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man in Tripura killed his wife during an altercation at their home on Monday night, stayed with the body for hours, and then turned himself in at the police station on Tuesday afternoon to report the crime.
Shyamal Das, a resident of Amtali police station area in West Tripura district, was arrested after he struck his wife Swapna with a blunt object during a quarrel over family matters, resulting in her immediate death.
"Shyamal spent the night with the body inside his house. At around 1.20pm today, he walked into the police station and claimed his wife was lying in a pool of blood inside his house. A police team went to the spot and recovered the body," said Sub-Inspector Shyamal Paul of the police station.
The police have initiated an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem examination.Check out the
