Tripura launches health mission for schoolkids

Agartala: Tripura govt Friday launched the Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission in 125 Vidya Jyoti schools, on a pilot basis, for the physical and mental well-being of students. “The programme aligns with NITI Aayog guidelines and focuses on six key areas, including health, nutrition and academic curriculum,” Sumit Roychoudhury, director of NHM (Tripura) said. “About 90,000 students are expected to benefit from the programme, which will eventually be extended to all govt and govt-aided schools in the state,” Roychoudhury said.Highlighting NHM’s work, he said it has undertaken several initiatives, including Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, Menstrual Hygiene Program, National Deworming Day, National Tobacco Control Programme and Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Programme for the well-being of children.
