Tripura govt to distribute 10kg rice to over 9L ration cardholders for 2 mnths

Agartala: Tripura govt has decided to distribute 10kg of free rice to each of the 9.83 lakh ration cardholders in the state for the next two months, as part of the flood relief programme, to support the celebration of the upcoming Sharad festival and Diwali. Special secretary (food, civil supplies and consumer affairs) Revel Hemendra Kumar said 160MT of rice, 8MT of lentils, 9MT of flour, 12MT of salt and 1.5MT of sugar kept in 11 godowns of the food department besides 79 ration shops were damaged in the worst floods to have struck Tripura in decades, resulting in a loss of Rs 1.22 crore. The damaged food materials have already been disposed of to ensure safety and compliance. The special secretary, however, assured that the state still has an adequate stock of essential commodities.

BJP: Delhi govt denying ration to thousands of families

Vijender Gupta, leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly, accused the AAP government of depriving thousands of poor families by halting ration distribution. He stated that the number of beneficiaries has decreased over nearly a decade and called for intervention from the Lieutenant Governor. The AAP government did not respond to these allegations.

Special squads to ensure food safety during Onam: Health min

Thiruvananthapuram's food safety department has deployed 45 special squads to inspect the quality of food items during Onam. These inspections cover production, distribution, and sales centres. Strict actions await those violating standards. Establishments must visibly display their food safety licences and adhere to hygiene practices for compliance.

UP, Tripura CMs to inaugurate Siddheswari temple in Tripura on Monday

On September 16, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the newly constructed Siddheswari temple in West Tripura. The ceremony will also feature Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma as a guest of honour. Maharaj Chittaranjan Debbarma from Shanti Kali Ashram will be present.
