Tripura BJP MLA showcaused for 'manhandling' BLO
Agartala: A BJP legislator has been showcaused by the district election officer (DEO) of North Tripura district for reportedly manhandling a booth level officer (BLO) in the Bagbasa assembly segment of East Tripura parliamentary constituency, where polling was held on April 26, officials said here on Monday. The move was initiated following a preliminary investigation. BJP MLA of Bagabassa assembly constituency Yadav Lal Nath and his associates had allegedly entered polling booth number 22 in the Bagbasa assembly segment and manhandled BLO Chinmay Das. The notice asked Nath to explain why he barged into the booth by flouting the ECI guidelines and attacked the government official.FIR against BJP N Tripura district prez O n the other hand, an FIR has been lodged against BJP’s North Tripura district president Kajal Das and his followers for allegedly thrashing a presiding officer at the same booth during polling on April 26. “An FIR has been lodged against the attackers, including Kajal Das, for assaulting a presiding officer. Accordingly, a notice was issued to the accused person by the authorities of Kadamtala police station. An investigation is underway,” he added. (With inputs from PTI)
