Tripura begins 4-day R-Day celebrations
Agartala: With the celebration of 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Tuesday, Tripura began four days of observance of 175th Republic Day with a series of events and programmes across the state.Chief minister Dr Manik Saha launched the celebration in the morning at Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan here hoisting the Tricolour on the campus. He joined a mammoth colourful procession of the students and alumni association of the school, which moved across the city depicting various themes of nationalism and the contribution of Netaji and Azad Hind Force in the freedom movement.He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had first recognised Netaji in a meaningful manner in 2016 and had hoisted the national flag and unveiled the plaque to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the formation of Azad Hind Government on October 21, 2018, at Red Fort.The national flag was hoisted in Andaman and Nicobar Islands while Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar was instituted on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji to honour the invaluable contribution and selfless service rendered by individuals and organisations in India in the field of disaster management, Saha said.“As announced by the Prime Minister to honour the contributions of Netaji, we have begun the celebration of Republic Day on January 23. A series of programmes has been scheduled for four days across the state ,” Saha added.
