Agartala: The Tripura assembly witnessed protests and walkouts by the opposition CPM and Congress on Thursday as a motion was passed congratulating PM Modi for forming the BJP-led NDA govt at the Centre for the third consecutive term.Following the question hour, speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen introduced a congratulatory motion stating the NDA coalition led by Modi formed a stable and strong govt and the electorate of the country once again showed their full faith and confidence in the exemplary leadership of the PM.LoP Jitendra Chaudhury objected to the move stating, “Any such motion required to be discussed with the business advisory committee and leaders of all the parties represented in the assembly, but in this case it was not not done. Moreover, the statement was politically motivated and far from reality.” He was supported by Congress legislators who proposed changing the format, claiming that Narendra Modi’s party did not achieve the magic number.

Oppn seeks no confidence motion against speaker, stages walkout
