Tripura woman reaches Everest base camp

Agartala: Piyali Deb, a mountaineer from Tripura, has become the first woman from the state to reach the Everest Base Camp. After a challenging four-day trek covering 70 kilometers from Kharikhola, near Kathmandu, she achieved this feat on Oct 24. Prior to Piyali’s achievement, another Tripura native, cyclist Bapi Debnath (Neel) from Chandrapur in Agartala, reached the Everest base camp in July this year. tnn

Movement along Bangladesh border in Tripura prohibited

West Tripura authorities have restricted public movement within 500 meters of the India-Bangladesh border at night due to increased infiltration and anti-India activities. Effective until December 19, the prohibition aims to prevent law and order issues. Security forces and essential services are exempt from this restriction, with violations leading to prosecution.
