TISF for traditional dress twice a week in schools & colleges

Agartala: Tipra Indigenous Students’ Federation (TISF), the student organisation affiliated with TIPRA Motha, a BJP ally, met with Tripura governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Saturday. They presented demands for essential student facilities and proposed making Rignai mandatory as traditional attire twice weekly across educational institutions.
“We know schools, colleges and study centers are made for every single student where belongings from any religion, community, caste and tribe can join and can earn the same knowledge under a roof of institutions,” the memorandum reads.
The current situation reveals a severe lack of basic amenities. Educational institutions lack proper study material storage facilities, adequate washrooms for female students, clean drinking water facilities, proper seating arrangements, and reliable electrical connections.
“We strongly demand compulsory traditional dress code (RIGNAI) for every school, college and education institution at least twice a week,” the memorandum stated.
The organisation said ‘RIGNAI’ represents Tripura’s cultural identity and traditions, serving as a symbol of the state’s heritage.
