TIPRA urges Tripura DGP to withdraw cases against its cadres

AGARTALA: The ruling TIPRA Motha of Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (ADC) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to DGP Amitabh Ranjan demanding withdrawal of all cases registered against its party supporters by BJP last week.

The TIPRA Motha leaders alleged that the ruling BJP’s inner conflict had instigated the attack on the groups who had attended the rally of it’s national president JP Nadda on August 28 last at the ADC headquarters. But BJP falsely implicated TIPRA supporters in the incidents.

The memorandum stated that a large number of supporters of TIPRA Motha were taken to police custody based on false and fabricated cases of BJP and later some of them have been unconditionally released but a few of them were sent to jail.

“No attack was carried out by TIPRA Motha on any BJP supporter. Rather, the Motha chief welcomed Nadda in ADC and reiterated the demand of Greater Tipraland peacefully. How can police register cases against TIPRA Motha supporters without any proof based on the motivated complaint of BJP?” Motha leaders argued. They further claimed that there are so many cases framed in various police stations which are currently under trial.

They said arrest and producing the supporters of a party before the court based on false and fabricated cases was nothing but a clear violation and infringement of the rights of the citizens.
