SPs of border dists of Tripura, Assam and Mizoram meet

Agartala: To ensure a peaceful election beginning April 19, district superintendents of police of three bordering districts of Tripura, Assam and Mizoram had a meeting on Thursday at Ksrimganj of south Assam’s Barak Valley.Karimganj SP Partha Pratim Das, North Tripura district SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, and SP of Mamit district of western Mizoram, Apu Thang Pui, had a detailed discussion on inter-state miscreant movement to disturb the election process.While polling in parliamentary constituencies under the jurisdiction of North Tripura and Karimganj are scheduled on April 26, polling in Mamit will be held on April 19 along with West Tripura constituency.North Tripura SP Chakraborty told TOI, “We shared the details of the listed criminals of the respective districts and also held strategic discussions to prevent inter-state movement of miscreants, unauthorised cash, drugs and contraband goods, which are considered a potential threat to peaceful poll process.”He said in line with the direction of the Election Commission, Tripura police have adopted multi-pronged strategies to make the election process peaceful and the SP-level meeting and sharing of intelligence were a part of it.The meeting resolved to instal additional checking points on all the national highways and inter-state roads to ensure an extensive checking of men and vehicles among the states, Chakraborty said.
