AGARTALA: The
state government
has undertaken a massive vaccination drive along with rigorous enforcement of Covid-appropriate behaviour to prevent the fresh spread of the disease.

Abhijit Das said as of now, 93% of health workers and 91% of frontline workers have already been vaccinated in
Tripura
. Over 67% of the
population
above 45 years have taken the vaccine and some of them have completed the second dose too, he added.
“We are encouraging clubs, associations and civil society organisations to host the vaccination programme of Covid-19 and the response is very impressive. Hopefully, within the stipulated period, cent per cent vaccination of targeted population will be over,” Dr Das said.
State surveillance officer Dr Deep Debbarman on Monday said 100% testing of indoor patients in all the government and private hospitals and people coming from
Maharashtra have been made mandatory, while 10% of the total passengers coming from other states by air or trains are going for
Covid
test even if they do not have symptoms.
He added that people coming from outside have been advised to stay isolated at least for three days at their arrival destinations and told to report the nearest hospital if they develop any symtoms. “In the last 11 days, as many as 216 people have tested positive and two persons died,” he said.
Debbarman said the state government has made wearing of face masks mandatory in public places and action is being taken against those violating physical distancing in markets, public transports and offices.
