Persuading Centre to start ops at Kailashahar airport: Min
Agartala: Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the assembly that the state govt has been urging the ministry of civil aviation to make the Kailashahar airport in Unakoti district functional in the near future, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.
In response to a question raised by Congress MLA Birjit Sinha from Kailashahar, Chowdhury stated that the ministry had carried out an Obstacle Limitation Survey due to the presence of River Manu at the southern end of the airport and a state road with dense population on the northern side.

The preliminary survey recommended operating small 20-seater aircraft for short flights, and the airport infrastructure was renovated accordingly. However, the airport did not receive clearance at the final stage because of the insufficient runway length.
