Agartala: Amid the fresh forecast of hot and humid weather for the next three days, Tripura govt has extended the ongoing holidays in all public and private schools till Wednesday.

In a notification issued on Sunday, director of secondary education N C Sharma, said, "Due to perpetuation of scorching heatwave throughout the state, it has been decided that all govt, govt-aided and privately managed schools will remain closed for three more days." Earlier, the state govt had announced closure all schools from April 24 to April 27. The maximum temperature in the state has breached the 38 degrees Celsius-mark, which is four notches above normal.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 km per hour are very likely to occur at isolated places over North Tripura, Unakoti and Dhalai districts.
