AGARTALA: Four performing artists of Tripura have been nominated for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi awards in various categories for the last three years, which will be conferred by the President at a special investiture ceremony early next year.
CM Manik Saha on Sunday congratulated the awardees and thanked the juries for considering the young talents of the northeastern states and recognising their contribution to the field of art, culture and music. “The diversity of culture and music of the region are treasures of the country, which are still untapped,” he said.
Saha said Tarubala Debbarma has been nominated for Sangeet Natak Academi Puraskar 2020 in the field of folk music and dance while Tapasi Debbarma and Litan Das have been nominated for Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2020 and 2021, respectively, in the fields of folk music and puppet making.
Besides, Gopal Chandra Biswas has been nominated for Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award for his contribution to music (tabla), the CM stated.
