Agartala: Former rebel-turned-MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Sunday wrote to Union home minister Amit Shah, seeking his intervention to prevent the influx of migrants from Bangladesh amid the volatile political situation there.
Ranjit has urged Shah to form a high-power committee to detect, identify and push back illegal immigrants who are entering Indian territory.
In the letter, he has appreciated the GRP for a number of detentions and arrests at different railway stations in the state, but criticised the role of Tripura Police’s mobile task force in checking illegal migration.
