AGARTALA: A middle-aged couple was found hanging in their bedroom in the Badharghat locality, under AD Nagar police station, of
Agartala
.
Shankar Chakraborty's sister reportedly informed the police after she found his room locked from inside till late on Sunday morning.
Police arrived at the scene and broke in to find Shankar and his wife Anamika Chakraborty hanging from the ceiling.
The couple's son had been sent to a relative's house a couple of days ago.
"Preliminary investigation suggests the couple might have committed
suicide
out of frustration due to
poverty
. Shankar was an alcoholic and the family atmosphere wasn't a peaceful one," police said.
