Agartala: In response to the criticism from opposition parties regarding the deteriorating law and order and unabated crimes across Tripura, CM
Manik Saha held a meeting at the police headquarters on Monday, accompanied by home secretary Pradip Chakraborty.
After reviewing the law and order situation with top police officials, including the DGP, state intelligence chief, IGs, DIGs, and district SPs, the chief minister stated, “Police have been instructed to step up security ahead of
Durga Puja, enhance the performance of police stations, immediately respond and register complaint of any individual and strain action against the criminals without any consideration.”
He highlighted that the police have taken significant action against approximately three lakh anti-social elements over the past three years, while also observing a nearly 10% increase in the arrest of border touts and adopting a zero-tolerance policy against criminals involved in crimes against women and drugs.
In addition to addressing general crime, law and order, and public security, Saha also focused on issues related to drug trafficking and Rohingya infiltration. He emphasized the importance of regular inspections, tackling property crimes and small thefts.
