Centre provides Rs 40 crore as flood relief for Tripura
AGARTALA: The Centre government has released Rs 40 Cr in advance, as a central share from the State Disaster Relief Fund, to provide immediate relief to the flood-affected people in Tripura.
"No matter what, our sisters and brothers in Tripura will find the Modi govt standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them to battle these difficult times," Home Minister Amit Shah said on X.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday said besides providing financial support, Union Home Ministry has already deployed 11 NDRF teams, three columns of Army, and four Air Force helicopters to Tripura to assist the relief and rescue operations.
Saha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for this support in this difficult time and added, “The constant support from your side is helping & motivating us to firmly fight this tough situation. I on behalf of Tripura convey my regards to the caring govt. in the central," Chief Minister replied to Shah on X handle.
Meanwhile, Dr Saha on Friday took an aerial view of the worst flood-affected areas in Agartala, Udaipur, Amarpur, and Karbook by an MI-17 helicopter. As the rain stopped, the situation continued to improve with the flood water starting to recede while efforts were underway to support the affected people and mitigate the impact, he said.
"We have ample food packets and helicopters in operation. Our teams are working diligently to provide aid to affected communities," Dr Saha stated.
