1 killed, several injured as bus carrying job aspirants from Tripura to Assam overturns

Agartala/Silchar: A 33-year-old from Tripura was killed and several others were injured when the bus they were travelling in from Agartala to Guwahati to sit for a recruitment exam of Tripura State Cooperative Bank (TSCB) in different centres of Assam met with an accident early Thursday morning at Dittokcherra in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.The victim has been identified as Deepraj Debbarma, a resident of Maharani in Kamalpur under Dhalai district. Altogether 33 candidates were scheduled to appear for the online exam of different posts of TSCB to be held from Friday for three days.The bus registered with Assam overturned due to heavy rain in the morning and hit a road divider, resulting in the vehicle skidding off a drain around 12.30am, said Tripura transport secretary U K Chakma referring to a report from Harangajao police station.Police rescued them immediately with the help of fire and emergency service crew but Deepraj died on the way to hospital.
