BSF brass visit Tripura amid unrest in Bangladesh

AGARTALA: Amid the tension along the India-Bangladesh border following the political turmoil in the neighbouring country, BSF DG Daljit Singh Chawdhary accompanied by ADG Ravi Gandhi arrived here on Wednesday on a daylong visit.

They reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of BSF along the Bangladesh border in Tripura.

Chawdhary was given an operational briefing by IG Tripura Frontier, and chaired a meeting with senior officers of BSF to discuss the ongoing law and order situation in Bangladesh and its implications for the state. He applauded the force’s tireless efforts and dedication in safeguarding the borders and the efforts made to prevent infiltration and trans-border crimes effectively on the India-Bangladesh border, a BSF release said.

BSF issues high alert along the India-Bangladesh border

Indian Border Security Forces were put on high alert following Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasinas resignation amid violent protests. Amid ongoing demonstrations over a month, Hasina left Dhaka, prompting an interim government takeover. Protests initially focused on a quota system, have intensified, resulting in 300 deaths. The Indian government has advised against travel to Bangladesh.
