BJP will do very well in Northeast, Bengal: Tripura CM
AGARTALA
: Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday said the saffron party will do exceptionally well in the northeast andWest Bengal
in the coming Lok Sabha election.Reacting on the candidate list of BJP in various states, Biplab said the party's top leaders held a series of discussions on the proposals of the respective state committees and consulted reports of various agencies regarding the choice of candidates. "The selection of candidates is excellent and we are confident of winning more seats than the last elections. In Tripura, BJP has fielded two dynamic freshers against the tested opponents of CPM and Congress. So, there is no doubt of their winnablity. We are trying to maximize the wining margin," Deb told TOI.

against sitting MP from CPM Shankar Prasad Datta. Biplab added that whatever little support the Leftists had in the state hads eroded due to pro-people policies of the BJP-IPFT government.Biplab said BJP has fielded Rabati Tripura, an educated, young and dynamic leader of the party, from the East Tripura tribal reserved seat. "People of Tripura are fed up with the old faces of politicians. Now, people want committed and dedicated contestants. In the last assembly elections in Tripura, people voted us to power because most of our candidates are young," he added.
The CM said BJP has changed the notion of politics across the country. "In Congress, only money and influential background is the criteria for getting tickets in the election or becoming a minister. In CPM, unless a leader walked behind the top leaders for at least 20 years with some peculiar characteristics and ideas, there is no chance to contest election or being chosen as a minister or MP," he added.
The CM said victory of BJP in the next election is certain because people of the country have got an opportunity to evaluate the performance of the governments since 1947. "There was not a single case of corruption in five years of Modi's rule and one year of the BJP-IPFT government in Tripura. There were plenty of development initiatives for a crosssection of people," he added.
