Agartala: BJP in Tripura has enrolled approximately 95% of its targeted membership during the ongoing recruitment campaign, which has received enthusiastic participation from citizens, the party’s Tripura in-charge, Rajdeep Roy, said on Thursday.
Roy, who represents Silchar parliamentary constituency of Assam in the Lok Sabha, reported that BJP’s Tripura unit has registered more than 10.51 lakh members in the current drive. Of these, 8.51 lakh individuals registered online, while two lakh people opted for offline registration.
“The membership drive was launched on Sept 3 targeting 12 lakh enrolment comprising fresh and renewal of old membership and the entire process will be concluded on November 15,” Roy told the media, adding that the credit of such an impressive membership was possible because of the leadership of chief minister Dr Manik Saha.
The scale of membership registration in Tripura is now comparable to larger states such as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. Additionally, the party has initiated organisational elections at the grassroots level in the state, indicating BJP’s substantial presence in Tripura.
