AGARTALA: After the second round of counting in both the parliamentary seats of Tripura BJP candidates are leading. In Ramnagar by-elections BJP candidate and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumder is also leading over 2700 votes against CPI-M candidate Ratan Das.
In Tripura West seat BJP candidate former Chief Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb leading over 1.25 lakh votes against his nearest rival of INDI bloc candidate from Congress Ashis Kumar Saha. In the East Tripura parliamentary constituency BJP nominee Kriti Singh Debbarman is also leading over 1.23 lakh votes against her rival INDI bloc candidate from CPI-M Rajendra Reang.
The election commission has deployed more than 4000 paramilitary forces along with state police across 22 counting stations in 20 locations of Tripura. The district administration has imposed 144 100 meters around the counting halls to maintain peace and political violence.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha asked his party cadres to maintain peace and tranquility in and outside the counting halls while directing police to take strict action against the persons without considering their political affiliation and status if anybody is found indulging in violence and peace-breaking activity.
“The formation of the third NDA government at the centre is a matter of few hours and INDI bloc has lost the game after the second phase of the election. Therefore, no reason to be worried. Let us change the culture of violence and terror during the election, which was introduced by the left front in West Bengal and Tripura,” Dr Saha advised saffron cadres.
