Two held in Tripura teen gang-rape case
Agartala: Two persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping a 16-year-old girl in North Tripura district a day earlier, SP (North Tripura) Bhanupada Chakraborty said.
The incident occurred when the girl, a Class IX student, ventured out alone to purchase some items from a shop on Thursday. On her return journey, the two accused forcibly abducted her on a motorbike.

The two took the girl to a nearby jungle, where they took turns to rape her before abandoning her in a bloodied and traumatized state. As the girl stumbled out of the jungle and reached the main road, locals took notice and rushed her to the Dharmanagar district hospital.
The girl’s parents were informed and a case was filed at Panisagar police station.
Upon learning the incident, the SP visited the hospital and spoke with the girl.
He immediately mobilized a team of police officers and swiftly apprehended the two suspects from their residences within a short period.
