3 fishermen drown in Tripura lake during storm, 1 missing

AGARTALA: Three fishermen drowned in Dumboor Lake, Tripura's biggest water tourism spot in Gomati district, during a storm on Saturday. Another fisherman is feared dead. Police on Sunday initiated a massive search operation. They recovered the body of Hari Das and later of two more fishermen. Search operation is on for the fourth missing person, police said.

All four are from MR Das para in Dhalai district and went to the lake together around 9.30pm for fishing. They took shelter in the middle of the lake, but the wind was too strong which is why they presumably drowned, police said.

"I convey my condolence to the bereaved families and govt will stand by the victims' family in this difficult time," said Tripura CM Manik Saha.
