AGARTALA: The owner of a printing and photocopy shop in Adviser Chowmuhani area of the city was arrested after the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) administration on Sunday ordered an inquiry into the answer key leaked case of the recruitment exam.
Based on an FIR registered at West Agartala police station, one Chandan Saha (32) was arrested. Police claimed the photocopy of the answer key was made from his shop a couple of hours before it was leaked on social media on Saturday.
The others involved in the racket would be arrested soon, said SP (West) K Kiran Kumar.
The recruitment test for 110 vacant posts of sub-zonal development officers and deputy principal officers of ADC was postponed after the answer key of the test paper was leaked on social media.
ADC’s ruling party TIPRA Motha founder and executive member Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarman asked the administration to identify and arrest the persons responsible for leaking the answer key of the recruitment examination. He also called for the suspension of those involved.
In an audio message, Pradyot said he was informed by several individuals about the leak and was shown proof of it. “I immediately informed chief executive officer C K Jamatia of ADC to postpone the exams and file an FIR. I have instructed my team and the administration if they want me to remain in the ADC, the main culprit must be identified and named, regardless of whether they are from the party or a govt official,” Pradyot said.
“Candidates have worked hard and travelled from various places for this exam. I will personally oversee this matter to ensure the responsible party is held accountable. Failing to take action will be detrimental to us,” he said. The examination for the recruitment of sub-zonal officers and deputy principal officers of ADC was supposed to be held at 78 places in the state on Sunday.
