at the baropardaye barshoshera awards organised by a private television channel at netaji indoor stadium on sunday, ace director gautam ghose seemed to be the talk of the town.
cutting a quet path through the celebrity world, his film dekha won a number of awards including the best actor award which went to the veteran soumitra chatterjee. ghose also won the best cinematographer award for the movie.as for the leading actress, the nominations were more than interesting as the sen household seemed to rule. this time daughter konkona sensharma was nominated for her film ek je ache kanya along with her mother aparna sen for titli. however, the award went to the senior sen for rituparno ghosh’s titli. the handsome jishu sengupta along with the demure beauty sreelekha mitra anchored the show. other than the regular awards, singer babul supriyo was awarded the best singer award and for the female voice anuradha paudwal was awarded.
the awards were punctuated by performances of the tolly stars themselves. actress indrani haldar danced to the 1940’s hit song tufan mail, while the lovely june malia did a twist with abhishek chatterjee on the ke tumi nandini number. pallavi chatterjee danced as marjina. the industry paid a special tribute to the late satyajit ray. gupi bagha’s immortal songs came alive as two young tv artistes dressed as gupi and bagha took the stage and danced away to the hit songs of hirak rajar deshe. singer abhijeet was present and soon tuned on to the old uttam kumar hit, ei to jibon. pt ajay chakraborty was also seen in different mijaz as he sang the romantic song hoye to tomari janyo . tolly’s heroine no 1, rituparna sengupta was supposed to perform with her dance troupe, but she left the show midway.
also present were fa femina miss india earth reshmi ghosh, actress rupa ganguly, director a njan chowdhury, sandip ray, actress sreela majumdar, madhabi mukherjee, actor sabyasachi chakrabarty and many others.
