Konkona is your next-door girl, with a mind of her own, self-possessed and gorgeous. The toast of Tollywood, thanks to her films Ek Je Achhe Kanya and Titli, right now she is anxiously waiting for her next flick, Mr and Mrs Iyer, to hit the theatres in October.
Taking a year off after her graduation, Konkona is now in a mood to relax. “I plan to do my masters from Delhi, but not now. I had to take this year off as I was doing Mr and Mrs Iyer, said Konkona.
Film offers may be pouring in from both Bollywood and Tollywood, but Konkona wants to be very, very selective.
“Right now, I am concentrating on an English play with Renu Roy. I got an offer for Hindi film, but the story just did not suit me, she said.
So more films with mom Aparna Sen? “May be, she smiled. “Mr and... is my second film under maa’s direction. The first was Picnic in 1989. Working under her is a different experience altogether.
Is there any role of her mom she would like to do?
“Oh, yes, any day it would be Samapti! she gushes, “I think maa’s expressions are very difficult to re-create. But I would definitely like to give it a try.
tanuja.dasgupta@timesgroup.com
