If you are lucky to work at the new IT park in Rajarhat, going to office will not be a dull affair anymore. You will be working in a centrally air-conditioned tower customised for a round-the-clock work environment. After working for a long stretch, you could just walk out to a 50,0000 sq ft open-air landscaped podium to catch a whiff of fresh air. And it won''t be the boring office canteen grub anymore. Instead, a multi-cuisine food court awaits you to catch a quick bite. There will also be ATMs, gyms and a multiplex to watch the latest films, all within the complex itself.

As Kolkata is all set to become a favoured IT destination, this upcoming IT park promises to add shine to the changing image of this city. The project, initiated by West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Ltd (Webel), is spread over 1.3 million sq ft area. Touted to be the largest state-of-the-art IT park in the city, around 20,000 people can work together. "The services will suit an IT work culture. The combination of mixing office space, retail stores and entertainment will make it user-friendly," said Amit Grover, an official of the Delhi-based project development firm.

Said Subroto Majumdar, general manager of Webel, "The first phase of the IT park will be complete by April this year and the remaining part will be ready by mid-2006." The project architect Hafeez Contractor explained, "The three towers of the IT park are quake-resistant. The facade will combine glass, stone and metal panels giving it a modern look. The entrance lobbies will be made of granite and marble."

To take care of any eventualities, the IT park will have a modern fire detection system, 24 hours CCTV security system, 100 per cent power backup, professional property maintenance and parking space for about 2,000 cars.
madhurima.nandy@timesgroup.com
