On bandhs:
I think that the time has come to call a bandh to protest against bandhs. How can anyone justify disrupting normal life?
On Singur:
Like most young people, I too was a pro-CM kind of a person. I was all thumbs up for his policies on industrialisation.
1x1 polls

But what is happening at Singur is gross violation and seizure of democratic rights. The Singur incident has proved that the state government is no longer a peoples' government.
Is our government any different from the fascist government of Narendra Modi in Gujarat?
On plagiarism:
There is a thin line between inspiration and plagiarism. Considering cinema is an ageing centurion, the new will stem from the old, right?

Remaking Don is not plagiarism. But when you see a Bengali film which is a frame-byframe lift from a Telegu film, that is plagiarism.
What is also sad is when all the songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle are recorded on an MP3 and sold for a dime. There is a glut of Bangla bands too. It's all about the money. They should get their act together first.
Calcutta's party circuit:
I'd much rather have a marathon adda session at my place. Parties are fun but the city's party scene is on a short circuit. The same remixes. Parties could do with a shot in the arm.
Year-end plans:
For Christmas, I will be in Delhi. One of my telefilms has been selected for the Bangla telefilm festival which is being held in New Delhi and my film will be shown on Christmas morning.
I will usher in the New Year by taking part in a night-long theatre festival that is held in the city. What a creative way to welcome 2007!
