The “not tonight, darling syndrome has taken a backseat this season. Winter presents the perfect platform for pillow talk to be followed by hot encounters of the intimate kind. “Sexual behaviour has many variables. Winter is the ideal time when a person feels comfortable in snuggling up to one’s partner. Love making is an obvious follow-up, said psychiatrist Utpal Chandra.
“There is evidence to prove that seasons rule our sexual behaviour. Due to changes in the weather, there is a change in biochemistry. And as a result sex life is also affected, informed Kaushik Palit, MD. “Frequency-wise, Kolkatans have sex around five times per week in winter which is nearly double in comparison to other times of the year, informed A. Karmakar, a city-based sexologist.
So from frequency to satisfaction, Kolkata’s dil maange more this season. Research conducted at Princeton University attributes this to human behaviour inherited from ancestors. “Just like cave men, present-day humans find it natural to cuddle up for comfort,’’ said David Elkind, a professor of human behaviour at the university, “Snuggling up to each other to ward off the cold is a physical necessity and then chemistry takes over.
