Cocktail date

It was the club president’s cocktail at the International Club this weekend. Needless to say, everyone tuned out in their very best. With the chill of November just setting in, the lawns where most of the guests gathered made for an inviting venue.
A live band, free flowing booze, cocktail sausages, fish fry, chicken drumsticks doing the rounds, and loads of laughter made for the perfect party.The host for the evening A P Majumdar wearing a white safari suit added a good bit of colour when he started dancing with his two-year-old grand daughter and attracted everyone else to join in.
This, when he had finished mixing with the guests, sharing a few thoughts secretary Amlan Raha and overseeing the arrangements for the evening. Singer Pratik Chowdhury dropped by to be a part of the celebrations after his show at the Calcutta Club. “I am a big fan of this man, he’s my guru,� said Anjan Prasad Majumdar pointing to Pratik and sharing fond memories of their days together.
“She is Madhu Raha,� joked the irrepressible Amit Raha introducing his friend and wife of Capt Girish Burman, inviting some false blows and a cascade of laughter from the lovely lady.
Regaling a good six member team with his histrionic skills and sending everyone to splits was Babua Chokroborty. The man had won accolades the last time he performed on stage during the fancy dress competition of the club. Enacting characters from a hawker to a historical figure, this home groomed talent did give the evening a bright shade.
His group members Sukla Bhattacharya, Reena Chokroborty, Nupur Baul and Amitava Baul couldn’t stop laughing. “We’re proud to be members of this club, we aren’t sure how many other clubs have so many events like ours, our member participation is really awesome,� said Supratim Sen even as he chilled out with wife Rakhi and friends. Almost always the organiser of events, but chilled out that evening and enjoying his drink was committee member Jayjit Biswas who we saw sharing a word or two with Sanjay Chatterjee.
