NEW DELHI: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday unveiled initiatives for India's agricultural sector, which will aid 1.75 crore farmers across the nation.

"Prime Minister Krishi Yojana is developing an Agri Districts Programme. Motivated by the success of the Aspirational Districts Programme, our government, in partnership with states, will launch the Prime Minister Krishi Yojana to enhance agricultural development," said Sitharaman.

The finance minister stated that the government would implement the Prime Minister Krishi Yojana collaboratively with states by integrating current schemes and targeted interventions.

Sitharaman announced the initiative will encompass 100 districts that currently show low agricultural output.

The administration intends to regulate crop intensity and address below-average credit parameters. "It aims to enhance agricultural productivity. So adopt crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practises."

Additionally, the finance minister announced plans to increase post-harvest storage facilities at the Pancha and block level.
