NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced a focused scheme for the footwear and leather sectors, aimed at boosting domestic production and global competitiveness. Additionally, the government will take steps to establish India as a global toy manufacturing hub.
Presenting the Union Budget for 2025-26, Sitharaman also highlighted plans to launch a mission supporting clean technology manufacturing, reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
She emphasised that investment is a key growth driver, stating that “investment as a third engine encompasses investing in people, innovation, and economy.”
Further, the government will expand broadband connectivity to all government secondary schools and primary healthcare centers, ensuring enhanced digital access across critical public institutions.
