Life is not always linear
Avani Lekhara, who was paralysed from the waist down after a car accident when she was just 11, and who then took up shooting and went on to win the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle standing in the Tokyo Paralympics last year, was among the speakers at VMware’s Nirmaan, a platform to engage with women leaders in the technology industry.
In a conversation with VMware India MD Pradeep Nair, Avani shared how she had little interest in sports and physical activities before her accident, and how she ended up taking up rifle shooting professionally. Life and learning, she said, are not always linear. And you either win or learn, she said.
In another conversation, Sindhu Srinivas, marketing lead at VMware India, said leadership involves the ability to carry along a lot of people, and “women naturally learn how to carry along and balance a lot of people around them.”
