AHMEDABAD: Flipkart would have seven private labels across 80 categories by December 2017 that would contribute 10% to its revenues, Adarsh Menon, VP and head - Private Labels, Flipkart said. Currently, there are 3 brands across 36 categories, which would be expanded to seven brands across 80 categories by December and further taken to 5 more categories by the end of the fiscal.

“The private labels would contribute 10% of units e-tailed on our platform and contribute as much to our revenues,” he said. Flipkart’s private labels across electronic accessories, home decor, small home appliances and audio have generated substantial interest among online consumers so far, he said. Flipkart’s journey of private labels is 6-months-old. The e-tailer would launch furniture, fashion apparel and fashion accessories soon, he said.

Meanwhile, Flipkart announced setting up of a new warehouse in Ahmedabad solely dedicated for large appliances, a top-focus category for the company. The new facility will cater to customers’ diverse needs and ensure a delightful delivery experience by ensuring minimum lag in the fulfilment of large appliances orders.
