MUMBAI: Hotstar, the over-the-top (OTT) video streaming platform of Star India, has become the first local service to cross 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store, the company said today. This is within just 2 years of its launch in 2015.
The leading Indian OTT player has been one of the fastest growing platforms.
On the Play Store downloads chart, the online video platform has raced ahead of its competitors and other Internet companies in India, including e-commerce services like Amazon India and Flipkart, taxi ride services like Ola, payment apps like Paytm, and news services like NDTV and Dailyhunt, the company said.
Incidentally, across the Play Store, App Store and other Android app stores cumulatively, Hotstar has crossed more than 200 million downloads since launch.
