EUROPE POWER-German prices dip on wind power output; rise for next week
FRANKFURT, Feb 20 (Reuters) - German power prices for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday fell on expectation of higher wind power generation in the wholesale market on Monday while prices for next week rose on forecasts for lower wind levels.
* The baseload day-ahead price was at 32.7 euros ($34.70) per megawatt hour (MWh), off 0.5 percent from the price paid for Monday.

* Wednesday and Thursday's prices were down 22 percent and 11 percent respectively from prices quoted for day 2 and 3 at the weekend.
* Next week's baseload power was up 9.3 perent in Germany at 35.3 euros/MWh.
* Thomson Reuters data pegged Tuesday's wind power generation at 21.5 gigawatts (GW), with Wednesday at 33 GW under one forecast scenario out of several. Monday was projected to produce 21.8 GW. Last Friday's level was 7.7 GW.
* Next week's output is expected to decline from 17 GW on Monday.
* French Tuesday baseload power was at 50.75 euros/MWh, down 6 percent from the price paid for Monday.
* In nuclear power, Germany's
Brokdorf plant will return to the grid on March 3, a week later than originally planned.
* The Swiss Leibstadt nuclear plant is due to reopen late on Feb. 20 after a weekend switch-off shortly after its restart.
* French nuclear availability stands at a tight 78.8 percent.
* Power demand is expected to rise by 1 GW in Germany to 69.4 GW day-on-day to Tuesday and fall by 0.3 GW in France to 62.1 GW in the same period.
* Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly until the middle of the week before tailing off.
* On the year-ahead curve, the German Cal '18 baseload contract gained 2.8 percent to 31 euros/MWh.
* The equivalent French year-ahead position rose 3 percent to 36.5 euros.
* European carbon emissions prices were up 2.6 percent at 5.11 euros a tonne.
* In eastern Europe, the Czech baseload price for Tuesday was at 32.25 euros, down 6.8 percent from the price paid for Monday. The year-ahead contract was 95 cents up at 30.90 euros.
* The CFO of Swedish utility Vattenfall said in an interview with Reuters that the company will seek to expand heat and wind power operations in Germany while pursuing new growth opportunities in grids and electric cars.
