Delhi airport T2 revamped opens on October 26: Self baggage drop, DigiYatra and more - All about new Terminal 2 at IGI Airport
Civil aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu on Saturday inaugurated the renovated Terminal 2 (T2) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), which will resume operations from Sunday.
Built four decades ago by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), T2 had been closed since April this year for an extensive renovation.
IGIA, India’s largest airport, comprises three terminals—T1, T2, and T3—and four runways, facilitating over 1,300 daily flight movements. Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) operates the airport.
At the inauguration, DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that IGIA’s total annual passenger handling capacity has now exceeded 100 million.
From Sunday, around 120 daily domestic flights operated by Air India and IndiGo will operate from T2. Key movements include:
2. Optimally adjusted cabins for smooth boarding
3. Sidecovering cushions for safety and aesthetics
4. Swing doors for operator safety and modern design
The terminal’s airside and apron areas, operational for over 40 years, have been completely overhauled. These upgrades aim to ensure smoother aircraft handling and efficiently accommodate growing air traffic.
