NEW DELHI: Online food ordering and delivery platform Zomato on Friday announced the resignation of its co-founder and chief people officer (CPO) Akriti Chopra to pursue other interests. The company’s regulatory filing said that Chopra’s resignation will be effective from September 27, 2024.

She has been with the food delivery giant for 13 years and played a significant role in setting up and scaling Zomato's legal and finance teams in her previous role as CFO.

Before joining Zomato, she worked with PwC for three years in the tax and regulatory practice.

In a farewell note for Akriti on the company's website, Deepender Goyal, CEO, thanked her, saying, “Akriti has always had the knack for turning chaos into order and has always made the impossible seem effortless. She’s been so much more than a leader or a colleague—she has been the glue holding us all together. Or the countless moments when she provided the much-needed “adult supervision” through some of our most complex financial transitions, with so much poise and patience.”

Last year, in January, another co-founder and former chief technology officer, Gunjan Patidar, resigned after more than a decade with the company. Before that, in November 2022, co-founder Mohit Gupta also stepped down.

Gupta had been promoted to co-founder status in 2020 after serving as the CEO of Zomato's food delivery business.
