NEW DELHI: Software services exporter Wipro on Wednesday reported a 14 per cent fall in second-quarter net profit, dented by higher expenses.

The Bengaluru-based company posted a net profit of Rs 1,889 crore in the quarter ended September 30, compared with Rs 2,191.8 crore a year earlier, the company said.

Net profit came in below the Rs 2,100 crore expected by 24 analysts, according to Refinitiv Eikon data.

Revenue from IT services grew by 9.2 per cent to Rs 14,377 crore. Total income of the company rose 7.5 per cent to Rs 15,203.2 crore in Q2 from Rs 14,139.6 crore a year ago.

The Wipro board also approved the appointment of former State Bank of India (SBI) chief Arundhati Bhattacharya as an additional director for a five-year term.
