It's business that's powering new India-US bond, not China

It is not China, but the US policy is to reclaim economic dominance that has made the Biden administration build closer ties with India

When it comes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing state visit to the US, the elephant in the room is China. On June 20, National Security Council official spokesman John Kirby noted that the goal of the visit was to "put our cooperation on an inexorable trajectory… that will be central to ensuring US interests in the coming decades".

Asked if Modi was being invited to the White House as part of a move to counter China, Kirby’s short answer was, "No."
This is a complicated half-truth. Anyone who believes that China has no role in ensuring Modi’s red carpet reception in Washington DC probably also believes that pigs can fly.
